MS Dhoni – The (Real) Untold Story

MS Dhoni – The (Real) Untold Story.

The man you know… The characterstics (of that man) you don’t.

MS Dhoni – The Untold Story has crossed 100 crore mark and it is the first biopic to do that. Congratulations to producers and directors! In that film, Dhoni’s struggle is shown to inspire people. Neeraj Pandey is an exceptional director so he would have shown that story exceptionally well that’s why it has earned 100 crores. Almost every cricketer go under such grinding to reach to the top level. If you listen to the struggle stories of cricketers, you will realise that how much hard working and dedicated they are towards the game. Dhoni has also worked really hard and Neeraj Pandey has shown that untold story on big screen. There is one more untold story of MS Dhoni which everyone should know.

I am a huge fan of MS Dhoni’s batting and wicket keeping but there are two more roles of MS Dhoni in the team. MS Dhoni also plays the role of captain and selector in the team. Dhoni as a captain is a gambler. He has been India’s most successful captain so far. He has won all the ICC trophies. I am not taking any credits away from him but I rank Ganguly higher than him as a captain. There is only one reason for that and that reason is Ganguly in his tenure valued and respected the senior players and Dhoni don’t . Ganguly fought with selectors for senior players while Dhoni kicked all the senior players out of the team.

In the movie there is a scene in which Shushant Singh Rajput says “we all are here to serve the nation and according to me these players doesn’t fit in the team,” and on that one of the selectors says “Dhoni want to kick those players out who brought him in the Indian team.” This says a lot about Dhoni. Dhoni kicked all the players of Ganguly’s era out of the team. He is the reason behind the early retirement of many greats players. He has forgotten that he won ICC tournaments with the team which was built by Sourav Ganguly. If India gained no. 1 spot in test rankings under Dhoni’s captaincy then it was only because of the team which Ganguly gave him.

One of our former selectors Mohinder Amarnath revealed that “We were going to take test captaincy away from Dhoni in 2011 but Srinivasan stopped us from doing that.” The relationship between Dhoni and Srinivasan is very strong and we all know why Srinivasan was sacked from BCCI. Not only that, Dhoni has strong bond with Meiyappan as well.Meiyappan is also known for all the wrong reasons and his impactful relationship with Srinivasan. Dhoni maintained his position in the test team because of his political connections and under his captaincy we witnessed India’s worst performance in the countries like England and Australia. While under Ganguly’s captaincy, India’s performance in Australia and England was much better.

Dhoni is also famous for groupism. There was time when 70% to 80% players in the Indian squad used to be of Chennai Super Kings. Even today, players like Jadeja and Raina make come back in the team out of nowhere. Dhoni has kicked the players of Ganguly’s era because he thinks they are too old to play and as a result we lost an ODI series against Bangladesh in Bangladesh just because we didn’t pick up the experienced players. When he brought Yuvraj, Harbhajan and Nehra back in the team then the performance of the team was different. Most of the players of Ganguly’s era has retired only few are left around and it is a fact that we miss them. Team India need them to nurture new players around but Dhoni’s groupism is keeping them away. As a captain, he should fight for them like Ganguly but rather he is the reason for keeping them out. This is pathetic characterstic of Dhoni.

Recently, Gambhir was asked by media “if biopic is made on you then which actor would you like to see in your role?” On that Gambhir replied “cricketers are not real heroes. Our soldiers are real heroes. Biopics should be made on them and their life should be shown to the people.” This should be the attitude of Dhoni but rather he went on to create the hype around his movie. Moreover if he thinks that these players are too old to fit in this Indian team then he is also one of those older players. And now a days, we are loosing more matches because of the time Dhoni spend on the crease. On the basis of that even he should be out of the team. Why is he playing? or why the players of his group get multiple chances despite of flop performances? Dhoni hasn’t got success without those experienced players of Ganguly’s era and I think he will never get success if he will keep such prejudice against them. Players of Ganguly’s era who recently retired never paid that respect to Dhoni as compared to other captains in their speech. Dhoni has got the success with the Ganguly’s team but he has lost the respect of many with his deeds. This is the untold story of MS Dhoni which was not shown in the movie.

  1. I agree
The bio pic was more of his ad type

No controversy was mentioned , his test form slump, csk fixing etc did not even get a mention…

The movie was inspirational but really it made me feel like cricket is one man game … They show it like dhoni alone won the world cup…

    1. Exactly. The team with which Dhoni won the world was made by Ganguly. It was mostly the same team which reached to the final of 2003 world cup. The base of that world cup win was put by Ganguly.
