I started designing in last november with all the zeal and enthusiasm. Before getting into it, I analysed all the factors. Considering every factor, I set some realistic goals around it. I decided to calculate my growth quarter wise beginning from december. In the first quarter, I was able to do well. I was able to cover all of my expenses in the first quarter. So it was a good start. Considering the first quarter, my expectations from second quarter increased. First quarter’s performance was not the only reason behind the increase in my expectations but my portfolio was also increasing.
When I started designing, I was designing on two websites. Freecultr and PosterGully. And after the first quarter, I got two more websites. My Dream Store and Cupick. So I was expecting rise in the revenue and was thinking of making some profits in second quarter but as the second quarter began, I got a big blow. I came to know that Freecultr is on the verge of closure and it shut down its website immediately after that. It was clear that it is not able to bear the losses anymore. It was freecultr who gave me confidence that I can design. Because of my designs on freecultr, other websites started inviting me to design on their space. So exit of freecultr from my portfolio was a big blow to me.
I was getting good response from PosterGully and because of that I was working hard on it. Every month I used to design on different themes but that too was stopped. I was good getting good response in the first quarter because there was less competition and the commission was also good. I started providing variety in my collection but in second quarter my sales decreased. It reached to the level that I was not even able to cover up the expenses in the second quarter. Instead of getting the rise, I was witnessing the fall. In third quarter, I came to know that PosterGully has been acquired by ABEC promoters.
Third quarter was even worst. My sale declined even more. I lost hope and stopped designing. As there was no meaning of investing time in the thing which is not generating any revenue. Moreover no one knows when these websites close down or stop working. I might have stopped designing but I haven’t quit designing. I have found a US website of the same concept and on that website I am shifting my designs. I am trying to adapt its working and concept. We are on the verge of welcoming 2017 and it was required to do this analysis because it was my dream to do online business and after one year, I am exposed to its challenges. Now I hope in 2017 people of US will wear my designs and PG’s lifestyle store will reach to a new height. Fingers crossed.
