After all the retentions by the teams, all team owners geared up for the auction in february. At this point of time all the franchisees will be doing their homework with their management or rather would be making their team combination with the list of the players they want in their team. Let’s see what kind of combination franchisees are looking for.
Chennai Super Kings
CSK has retained Dhoni, Raina, Ashwin, Jadeja & Bravo. Chennai will go for their old squad only as they doesn’t like too many changes in their squad. So in this year’s auction CSK will go for players like Micheal Hussey, Vijay, DuPlessis, Morris, Albie Morkel, Mohit Sharma, Saha, Badrinath etc. In short there won’t be much changes in Chennai’s squad compared to last season.
Mumbai Indians
Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Malinga, Pollard & Rayudu has been retained by MI. Mumbai will also look to go for some of its ex players like Johnson, Maxwell & Dwayne Smith. Along with them MI would like to vanish their opening woes by bagging couple of players from the likes of Uthappa, McCullum, DeKock, Sehwag & Warner. Mumbai will also have likes of Yuvraj, Corey Anderson & Jimmy Neesham in its mind but the purse of only 21 crores is the biigest hurdle in their way to get them.
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan has already bagged Watson, Rahane, Binny, Faulkner & Samson. Now first of all they will be looking for a veteran leader who can hold their team together & that is going to be one of Hussey, Hodge or Graeme Smith. They won’t be spending big money behind the players rather they will try to get good quality players by spending small amount of money.
Delhi Daredevils
Surprisungly Delhi Daredevils didn’t retained any of its players despite having some really big names like Sehwag, Warner, Jayawardene etc. Sehwag is still saying that he wants to play for Delhi only despite not being retained by them. The reason DD hasn’t retained any player might be because DD was at the bottom of the table in last season, so they might wanted new faces in their team. Moreover DD owners has followed CPL T20 closely, it indicates that they will be going for maximum of West Indian tallent in this auction.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
RCB has reatained its 3 best players in form of Kohli, Gayle and DeVilliers. Kohli has already put his desire of bringing Yuvraj in his side. So RCB will do everything to get Yuvraj in their team. Moreover they would also be ready to buy whole bunch of fast bowlers and fast bowling all-rounders as they bought them last time. They need nothing more if they get Yuvraj and that bunch of bowlers as local tallent with likes of Mayank Agarwal will be enough to complete their balance of the team.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers should have retained Dhawan, DeKock, Steyn, Sammy & Perera instead of only Dhawan & Steyn. This franchise has got the purse of good amount, so it can go for some good bunch of players. I feel Sunrisers’ management knows how to create balance in their team, so they will choose their players wisely in every segment. Moreover they haven’t yet put their favorites in media. So they are going smart by keeping it secret.
Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR has reatained two of its most valuable players Gambhir and Narine. Now we will see Gambhir sitting in the auction along with KKR management choosing the players to go for. I think Gambhir will not let Yuvraj go easily, he is going to fight hard for him. Along with yuvi he will force KKR to go for his soulmate in cricket Sehwag as well. Moreover KKR will surely looking to get some of its old players back in its side.
Kings XI Punjab
David Miller was expected to be retained but biggest surprise of all retentions was Manan Vohra. KXIP has put lot of faith on Manan Vohra & this is going to boost his confidence. Preity Zinta always wanted Yuvraj back in her side, so Yuvraj is going to be at the top of their list. KXIP will be going for both Marsh brothers & Jayawardene besides Yuvraj. Moreover like RR, KXIP also will go for quality players at cheaper price except few players.
Ultimately this year’s auction is going to bring big bucks for some players & those players are: Yuvraj, DeKock, Neesham, Corey Anderson, Sehwag (hopefully), Warner, McCullum, Maxwell etc & there are going to be some surprise packages as well.
