Start
I was attending the family function in Ahmedabad two days after coming back from Mumbai. By the way, I went to Mumbai to launch my first book. So I was on cloud nine. Everyone in the family function was talking about the book launch. I was happily flaunting pictures of the launch and was feeling proud about it.
One of the relatives didn’t know about it. I was so happy that I greeted him and started telling that I went to Mumbai to launch my first book. His first reaction was “really? Good to know that. I didn’t know you write as well.” This conversation was going on and his wife joined us. She already knew about the book. He got distracted and started telling her, “you know Paresh has written a book and went to launch that in Mumbai.”
“Ya, he told me that he has written a book with 20 other people.”
“Oh! He has written it with twenty other writers?” I nodded.
“That’s not a big deal. I was thinking since when Paresh became so capable to write a book on his own. With twenty other writers, anyone can write it, no?” He laughed and walked away.
Reality check
That disparaging comment was a reality check for me. And rather than celebrating, I started planning my solo debut. I started planning or even writing a novel of 250 – 300 pages. After facing the challenges in writing that novel for one year or so, I was standing at the start of one blogging challenge. It is called April A to Z challenge.
It is a global challenge to grow your blog. Blogchatter conducts it in India. Blogchatter came up with an idea to convert the posts of A to Z challenge into an ebook. I was looking for something like that. I was struggling to write a complete novel together. On the other hand, I was very comfortable writing the blog posts.
Thus, I decided to pick up one idea or topic and write it during the A to Z challenge in form of blog posts.
Solo debut
I started writing in April and to help aspiring writers like me, Blogchatter started ebook carnival. In that carnival, Blogchatter interviewed experienced writers and they shared their experience to motivate us (aspiring writers) and made the process easier.
I successfully completed the book in the month of April. While writing that book, I realized writing the book is one process and then the publishing it is another. I was completely naive when it came to publishing process but again Blogchatter ebook carnival and my writer friends helped me in doing that. The result was ‘Life in Local Train’.
Blogchatter ebook carnival helped me in making my solo debut. It was all praises after I launched my first ebook after A to Z challenge. It was blogchatter ebook carnival which made my dream come true. It was a very special feeling. With the help of Blogchatter ebook carnival, not only, I proved that relative wrong but also made entry into the world of writing.
