Reading Challenge
Talking about the challenges, British Council is coming up with a reading challenge to inculcate reading habit in your child. British Council has organized this reading challenge with a UK firm called The Reading Agency. It starts this children’s’ day, it is a six-week challenge. The theme of this challenge is space chase. This theme is inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. This challenge is for the children aged 5-11 years. In six weeks, children have to read a minimum of six books from a collection of 35 new, hand-picked titles issued by British Council library. This programme is specially curated by The Reading Agency.

This programme is designed to encourage and motivate children to read for pleasure. It will develop their reading skills and will improve their English. Reading skills and improved English will ultimately lead to the building of confidence. If a child doesn’t like reading then the British Council creates an atmosphere around him/her which pushes him/her to pick up a book and read. British Council libraries have all the necessary equipment to make learning fun for children. In this competitive world, where both the parents are working, it becomes important that a child gets inspiration to read more and more to get the right amount of knowledge. And this programme is designed to provide that inspiration. Thus, according to me, this challenge is a win-win deal for a modern-day parent.
