The Monsoon Palace Under Clouds – Sajjangarh

My earlier trips to Udaipur didn’t have Sajjangarh on the itinerary. I mean I had explored Udaipur but had no idea about Sajjangarh. This time, I was staying at Sajjangarh and the Monsoon Palace was clearly visible from my resort. So I had to explore this place.

Trip was planned with the sole purpose of attending a wedding. Thus, it was difficult to take time out to explore the city but somehow I managed and went up to explore the fort.

Sajjangarh is called the monsoon palace and just a day before my visit, Udaipur experienced rain. So when I reached there, the weather was still cloudy. Due to that, I got the opportunity to explore Monsoon Palace under the clouds.

After exploring the fort when I came down, I was happy that somehow I managed to explore this beauty.

Actually, the management was really simple, I and my brother woke up early. So while other shenanigans were waking up & having breakfast, we were up at the fort.

The night before I was so tired that I didn’t even change, I slept with formal clothes on (just removed the blazer) and I went up in the same formals.

My visit to Sajjangarh was soul-satisfying and now I will tell you 5 factors that make Sajjangarh a must-visit place:

Beauty

The fort gives you the wow feeling as soon as you enter the premises of this palace. And it is equally beautiful from the inside as it is from the outside. The architectural design and its colour combination make it one of the aesthetic palaces/forts of India. Apart from the design, the nature around adds to the beauty. If you stay in any of the resorts in that area then you can see it from your resort, I can bet that it will be love at first sight. And that feeling will take you to the for.

Views

This fort is not just increasing its own beauty but it also increases the beauty of the whole city. You can see the part of the city from the top and trust me, those views are incredible. The views of the city are so serene and calm that you will just stand there and enjoy every single moment, avoiding the chaos of city life. To enjoy those views, I suggest you visit the fort in the morning.

History

The history behind the fort is very well explained as you go inside the palace, you won’t need a guide. After knowing the reason behind this fort, you will feel that someone told you an untold story of Indian history. You will get an idea about some unknown facts. You will not get only written information about the fort, there are visual illustrations as well. The mix of written and visual descriptions of the fort keeps you well informed.

For everyone

The best part about Monsoon Palace is that it has something for everyone. If you are young and curious then it will push you to explore each and every corner of the fort. If you are an old age person and don’t want to explore each and every corner then there are gardens and a cafe where you can relax. And if you are a child then you are in for a visual treat with a virtual corner, miniature and an animal illustration. As I said, this palace has something for everyone.

Biological Park and Zoo

Sajjangarh is not just a fort, there is a biological park and a zoo as well. In fact, you will see them at the feet of the hill near the ticket window of the fort. I would suggest you keep a whole day in your itinerary for Sajjangarh. Don’t worry about the food, there are enough restaurants and cafes to keep you filled throughout the day. Don’t waste the opportunity to explore the biological Park and Zoo along with the fort.

After reading these five factors I hope you will explore the Monsoon Palace on your next trip to Udaipur. Here is the video which will take you on the virtual tour of the palace.
