In part 1, I mentioned the Hindi web series released on Amazon Prime in the first half of 2020. So in this part, I will talk about the Hindi web series released on Amazon Prime in the second half of 2020.
Breathe – into the shadows
This series was released in July. I had expectations from this series because this is the second season (officially) and Madhavan had set the standards with his acting in the first season. Abhishek Bachchan has replaced him this season and he had big boots to fill. After watching the series, I must say that Abhishek lived up to the expectations. Rest of the cast complemented Abhishek really well. The characters who were there in the previous season set platform for Abhishek so he can deliver outstanding performance. And the new characters blend in like they were working together for years. Moreover, the story is compelling so you will not even think of skipping any part of the series. I hope this was the season 1 ‘into the shadows’ season because I would like to know what happens next.
Bandish Bandits
This series was released in August. It is a drama series based on music and the music is given by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Thus, for the first time music directors not the cast were the reason for me to watch the series. All I can say about this series is, it is different, it is new and it is awesome. The lead actors are new but the supporting cast is the experienced lot. It is like writer and director made a music bomb and a drama bomb (instead of the chocolate bomb), they put them in the same glass of milk and mixed them so well that it made the milk sweetest thing in the world. It is a must-watch series according to me, I am eagerly waiting for its season 2.
Mirzapur S2
I know I might have committed a crime here but I want to say that I haven’t watched even a single episode of Mirzapur. When season 2 was about to release in 2020, I decided to watch both seasons together but didn’t get the opportunity. I will talk about Mirzapur S2 on the basis of reviews I have read and heard. Some people totally loved it while some were disappointed with it. In other words, watch it at your own risk.
Sons of the soil
Sons of soil was the last Hindi web series on amazon prime in 2020. It is a journey series of kabaddi team franchise Jaipur Pink Panthers. Jaipur Pink Panthers is owned by Abhishek Bachchan and his passion for his team is clearly seen on TV during Pro Kabaddi League. If you love kabaddi then this series is like a dream for you because it gives some sort of idea about what happens behind the scenes in the tournaments like PKL. Otherwise, also, this series will inspire you because there are so many small-town boys pursuing their dreams, their stories will ground you and will push you to work harder. It also showcases the passion and commitment of Abhishek Bachchan as an owner of the franchise.
I mentioned it in part one as well and I mentioning it again, according to me, 2020 belonged to Amazon Prime Video. They teased us with 14 web series at the beginning of the year but covid changed the scenario and some of them were pushed to 2021. I hope, contentwise, 2021 on Amazon Prime will be better than 2020.
Nice. I’ve only watched Breathe. The others have been on my list like forever. Now there is some new one I heard of on Sony Liv too. That’s also gone on my list.
Web series are daily soaps for our generation. They are very well made to keep us hooked.
Some of the Indian series are really good and one looks forward to their next seasons. Some of our favourites have been Family Man. Mirzapur, Kota Factory, among others.
Yeah family man season 2 is on its way. Hopefully ab koi rukawat nahin aayegi usme
Like you, I haven’t watched Mirzapur too. It’s just too violent for my taste. I will watch Sons of Soil now, it seems pretty interesting.
Yeah, sons of soil is very raw. Talk about story of hardwork of small town boys.
I have watched few of them. I like watching web series as I am not interested in watching tv daily soaps.
Web series are new daily soaps.
Even I have watched these series except sons of soil. Would love to catch up on that one too.
You should.
I also enjoyed watching Breathe- Into the Shadows. Frankly speaking I was left a bit disappointed with Mirzapur season 2.
I haven’t watched Mirzapur. So I can’t comment on that.
Would love to watch sons of soil. Mirzapur is too violent, after a few episodes could take it further.
