Life in Lockdown

We are going through a very tough phase of life. No one knows when we will get back to normalcy. Till the time we are in this phase, its important that we stay positive and enjoy it.

Finally, we have got into a phase where someone has pressed a pause button in the middle of a rat race and has given us a chance explore ourselves.

This is a great time to try a hand on the things which you were pushing by saying “jab time milega tab karunga/karungi,” woh time aa gaya hai. If your schedule in this lockdown is Eat, Watch NEWS, Sleep, Repeat then you will end up getting a mental illness.

I am sharing my experiences or the stuff I am doing in lockdown. If you haven’t done anything then this is a great to do list. If you have tried few things and are out of ideas now then this will give you some ideas and inspiration to do some interesting stuff.

Day 1: Went out of society gate to check whether 21 day lockdown is being followed or not because it is India. Actually I was surprised to emptiness on the roads except passing of odd vehicle. (This activity is not to be followed)

Day 2: I started making making a schedule and terrace became a new living room.

Day 3: Started lending my hand in the chores (like sweeping). After all, ladies don’t own the copyright of household chores. If you still think it is the job of girls or ladies and not yours then chullu bar pani mein doob maro.

Day 4: Started working on some unfinished projects. My hobby is writing so, I pursued that. You can work on yours or can develop one.

Day 5: I love gaming and spent at least 3 hours in a week playing games online and pokemon has been my favourite. So reinstalled and started playing it for at least half an hour everyday.

Day 6: It was the anniversary of 2011 world cup semi final and star sports decided to replay that game ball by ball. So I relived one of the most famous victories of team India.

Day 7: Started connecting with friends through video calls on Whatsapp and Messenger. One can surprise oldest friends by calling them randomly. If you are doing that then get ready for some cold responses because it has been a while.

Day 8: If you are good for nothing then grow some trees and water them in this lockdown. It will be a great favour to this world.

Day 9: It was the anniversary of India’s world cup win. So relived those moments as well.

Day 10: It is a crime to get ill this phase even normal cold and flu is not allowed. So it is important that you follow a fitness regime during lockdown. I walk and do (normal) weight lifting.

Day 11: I am coffee person and love trying different types of coffee. So started making and tasting different types of cold coffee.

Day 12: For me, night time is the movie time and when Disney plus hotstar was launched, I decided to watch all the avengers movies again.

Day 13: There is a trend going on social media of making different recipes. If you like cooking then try and make those recipes at home. I tried Dalgona Coffee. I got the taste right in third attempt. You need more sugar or flavour to get the taste right.

Day 14: Ludo is something which most of the people would have tried during lockdown. Some (specially kids) are playing on the board, while some are playing online. It is not just the game, it is a way to bond with your family. You won’t get better time than lockdown to sit down and play games with your family. I was so lost in it that I lost the day count as well (in the tweet below).

Day 15: On day 15, I got a surprise, I was reminded of one of the interviews I gave to online magazine. It was a pleasant surprise. You can also surprise your loved ones with such gestures.

Day 16: It was time to get back to reading. I blocked an hour for reading from day 16.

Day 17: Music is the best stress buster and when it gets combined with walking then you can get a sound sleep every night.

Day 18: Writing became an important part of my schedule during lockdown and I started completing my third solo. 30 Legends and a 90s Kid.

Day 19: During lockdown, I cut my hair as well. In the time of crisis, you learn to to be independent and take your own responsibility.

Day 20: We should thank real heroes in this pandemic. Do it in your own way but you must do it.

Day 21: prepared for the extension of lockdown. Ordered groceries. This is the least you can do.

Day 22: Internet connection of my house went off and I got a new task of reviving it asap.

Day 23: On day 23, I was back to cricket and relived the Yuvraj’s match winning innings against Australia in 2007 World T20 semi final.

Day 24: I had planted Tulsi just couple of days before lockdown and after regular watering, the result was pleasant.

Day 25: At this time of the year, IPL creates new records by breaking old ones but due to lockdown there is uncertainty about the new season but Gaurav Kapur started his own IPL which fill the shoes of actual IPL. So I binge watched the episodes of that IPL.

Day 26: Some people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. So it becomes important to remind of their duty and urge them to stay at home.

Day 27: If you haven’t understood it yet then let me clarify that I am on the mission of trying as many types of cold coffees as I can.

Day 28: I stuck on the Avengers series and finished movie no. 6. This revisit in the Avengers world is allowing to notice small things which will ultimately help in ‘End Game’. BTW, I lost a count on day 28. Thank god, it was only a count not my mind.

Day 29: My focus on my social media profiles paid off as I completed the milestone of 8000 followers on instagram.

Day 30: I sat down to watch the most awaited movie of this lockdown ‘Extraction’ because it is shot in Ahmedabad and Chris Hemsworth plays the lead role.

Day 31: I got an opportunity to mentors some aspiring writers through my friend’s writing competition and Blogchatter’s ebook carnival. And I took 12 hours to sink in those opportunities.

Day 32: I realised that it has been more than a month and I haven’t played cricket and I am not going to play it for another month or so. Thus, to keep myself match fit I started shadow practice.

Day 33: To save myself from a show which was made in 20th century without VFX and repetitive scenes, I decided to watch stand up act just before that.

Day 34: I followed a rule of photography and clicked some sky pics with whichever resources (camera) I had.

Day 35: After 35 days of walking 12Kms/day results started coming out. I was in top 1% of samsung health members.

Day 36: This is the right time to support. Since last two months you are not eating out, you are not going for movies. So whatever extra money you are saving give some part of it to people who are in need.

Support the initiative you believe in, support the NGO you believe in, support the family or person who is in need, support the people who are walking or cycling towards their hometown.
Support in whichever way you can and as much as you can. Just support!

Day 37: At this time, I would have been packing for my next adventure trip if corona hasn’t struck the world. Thus the memories of an old trip.

Day 38: Different zones along with rules (for different zones) were announced by the government. My area was under Red Zone so no deliveries of non essentials and only one delivery a month of even essentials. So I took a survey to find out the people in green and orange zone.

Day 39: I found out that my book ipl-ology entered in Australian market. It was a proud moment for me.

Day 40: After finding out people in orange and green zone, I asked for a favour to survive Lockdown 3.0

There are lots of activities going on in this phase. Government, doctors, nurses, police, cleaners, security guards and municipal corporations are doing their job of protecting us. We should also perform our duties by staying at home and helping needy ones. If you didn’t do anything productive and helpful in this period then your life is waste.
