I am also a Sneakerhead

In my life, I have never gone shopping. So those who say shopping is therapy, I am sorry, it goes above my head. Since I have started earning, I am shopping for myself and my family. And I have never sat down thinking, okay I need 2 t-shirts, a pair of formal clothes and sneakers. I buy the thing at the same moment I saw and liked it. Normally all the clothes are bought in this way but shoes, if they are in my range, they are bought at that moment otherwise I wait for a sale to buy them. I have been doing this since 2013. Then covid hit this habit of mine hard and now I am a father so impulsive buying has taken a back seat.

While I was doing the impulsive buying, I didn’t realise that I am making a collection of shoes. The thing is me and my brother almost wear the same size of shoes and he is an impulsive buyer too. When my brother ordered another pair of shoes after the lockdown last year and my mother shouted, “there is no place for another pair of shoes in the wardrobe,” we realised that we both own fourteen pairs of shoes and most of them are sneakers.

Puma – 2 pairs

I possess a pair of Puma Ignite and a pair of Puma running shoes. I bought Puma Ignite Flash EVOKnit in Malaysia. It was love at first sight at the Puma store in Malaysia. Moreover, it was available at a cheaper price compared to the Indian official Puma website and other shopping websites. Thus, it was a deal not to be missed at any cost. I ignored it once and gave a lot of thought to it but in the end, at Genting highlands Puma store, I bought it. Another Puma pair was bought from Myntra. Cricket shoes make a lot of noise while running because of the spikes. So I needed a pair exclusively for running. Thus, Puma running was ordered.

Nike – 2 pairs

Both Nike pairs are sneakers: one is black and another one is white. The Black pair was from Paytm mall, it was my first purchase and got a huge discount. At the moment, it is my all-day wear pair. I am wearing it on regular basis for more than 2 years now. It is super comfortable and gives me the look I want. White pair of Nike sneakers were bought from Myntra. Again, I was getting a huge discount on Myntra’s EORS last year. So I bought it without thinking much about it. I know it will attract dirt but the design and the look are totally worth it.

Urban Pitara

I am an active member of StepSetGo and urban pitara tied up with them a while back. So I got a 30% discount coupon and explored the Urban Pitara collection. Out of the whole collection, I liked their camouflage sneakers. And after the discount, I was getting them for Rs. 850/-. It was a rare opportunity where the design and price both were favorable. So no was never an option. And one more pair of sneakers were added to my wardrobe.

Neeman’s Loafers

Talking about StepSetGo, I collected coins for one and a half years and I was ready to take part in Neeman’s auction. Neeman’s is a brand that produces and sells woolen shoes. And as they are made from wool, they are costly. They produce Loafers and Sneakers both. I won the Loafers in the StepSetGo auction. In the pictures, they looked cool but when I got my hands on them, they looked very old style which our grandfathers used to wear. I am going to gift them to an elderly person as I haven’t even considered them on any occasion.

DSC Cricket Shoes

I have had never seen cricket Shoes in the price range of 600-650 bucks. DSC introduced me to that kind of shoe. These are proper cricket shoes with spikes. As a bowler, this pair takes my fear of slipping away while playing cricket.

Levi’s Sneakers

I bought Levi’s sneakers because I was in search of canvas shoes. The best thing about them is they don’t show wrinkles like leather shoes.

Apart from that, I have a pair of formal shoes. My brother is also crazy about shoes and he has his own possessions. And the wardrobes in the house are full. We get scolded by mom even if we just show a pair of shoes to each other. I haven’t done impulsive buying in last 8 to 10 months, let’s see how long I can resist.

  1. You do have a good collection of sneakers. But what usually happens with me is that I tend to use one or two pairs and the others usually remain unused!

  2. Have you heard of Imelda Marcos? You remind me of her. Jokes apart shoes are a good investment since these carry your body weight.
