Here’s why Vitamin C is essential for a healthy body

You know it is surprising to see how my life has changed over the years. Maybe it is surprising because it happened while I was busy working! What I mean is, as I have grown, my responsibilities have grown too. First, it was just work, then it became balancing work and my own family. And now, I also have ageing parents to look after. It has been quite the change and I hope I have managed to look after myself, and my parents, well.

One thing I have become conscious of is setting the right example for my parents. I have to ensure that if I’m telling them to exercise, then I’m doing that as well. If I’m telling them to eat right, then I have to make sure I’m eating a well-balanced meal too.

It’s one of the reasons I have become very particular about reading ingredients on the food/snack package that I consume or serve my parents. It has helped me in checking that the diet they or I am eating is balanced, contains the vitamins and minerals that our bodies need, etc.

Why Vitamin C[1] is needed?

  • Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can strengthen your body’s natural defence. Studies show that consuming Vitamin C can increase your blood antioxidant levels by up to 30%.[2]. This may reduce the risk of chronic diseases
  • Vitamin C is known to have many health benefits. That’s why my father’s doctor recommended that while I prepare his daily diet, I add an extra dose of this vitamin in its natural sources like lemon juice and oranges.
  • It helps in the efficient absorption of iron from the diet. Recently my mother was detected with anaemia and on her doctor’s recommendation, started taking Limcee Vitamin C Chewable Tablets 500mg for enhancing the absorption of iron in her body[3] along with other natural sources of this vitamin. Remember to always consult your doctor to confirm the dosage because each body is different.

As my responsibilities have grown, I have to take care of my own needs too. I’m very aware of the fact that without taking care of my health, I will not be able to take care of anyone else.   1. Quite informative and insightful for sure. I agree totally. Similarly, even I have been prescribed Vitamin C supplements by my physician. It’s quite normal and regular for people to consult and consume

  2. This a valid point you have shared about setting the right example for parents. We only thought we need to set the right example for kids. Vitamin C is needed by all.
