Indian Webseries on Prime Video in 2019

This year we witnessed lots of Indian web series on different platforms. Each and every digital streaming platform tried its best to provide great content but hardly two or three platforms succeeded in that task. Amazon Prime Video was one of them. Amazon kept releasing awesome Indian content throughout 2019. All the Indian web series Amazon released were very different from each other. In other words, Amazon provided unique and varied Indian content to its viewers. Even the second season of its web series lived up to the expectations.

Now, let me tell you what I felt about these web series one by one:

Four More Shots Please!

Four More Shots Please was the first Indian web series on Prime Video in 2019. This series revolves around the bonding of four independent women. This series shows how four working women find solace in each other’s company. While showing the freedom and joy in friendship, this series also touches a few problems which women face in this country. The first half will make you feel good as everything was going right in their life but the second half will show you the ugly side of it. Overall, it is a good web series and one must watch it. The only thing I feel is, the end could have been better.

Made In Heaven

Made in Heaven is an event management company founded by a gay and a wife of a super-rich industrialist. They established the company to plan and manage weddings. While doing that, they deal with each and every issue related to marriage. This series tries to explain the irony of people believing ‘marriages are made in heaven’ and how they try their best to make it hell. All the actors have done a superb job explaining that irony. It is a must-watch series for newlyweds and those who are about to get married. Watch it, learn from it and bring the necessary changes in society.

Laakhon Mein Ek – S2

First season of Laakhon Mein Ek was about the life of a 12th-grade science student and hostel life around that scenario. While second season is about the struggle in the medical field and the greed of people around it. It shows the reality of how uneducated people in small villages are cheated. It also shows how politics in the field push students to take the steps which they shouldn’t even think of. Sweta Tripathi is in lead role and she has done a fab job. It is a slow-paced series so other stuff on the net might distract you but do watch it because it gives a great message.

Mind The Malhotras

Mind the Malhotras revolve around a couple who consult a psychiatrist because most of the couples around them are getting a divorce and they are not. They are leading a normal life and feel something is wrong in their relationship and a psychiatrist will help them address that issue. As psychiatrist start exploring their relationship, he finds that they are mad and are perfect for each other. Mind the Malhotras starring Mini Mathur and Cyrus Sahukar is a silly comedy series that you have seen a lot in the past. Some scenes will make you laugh. While some will give you the feel of the daily soap. I would suggest to watch it only if you like silly comedy.

Comicstaan – S2

If I consider only contestants then season two of comicstaan was quite similar to season one. Like season one, season two also gave couple of outstanding comedians and the rest were inconsistent. If I talk about the judges then there were changes in the panel. One of the hosts became a judge, a new host was introduced, Tanmay gave way to Zakir but Abish was as it is and as awesome as he was in season one. It is a great platform for aspiring standups. And it is exciting to see a new voice and new style coming up out of nowhere. I watched each and every act in season one but in this season, I was skipping the acts in every episode. So watch it as per your preference.

This is end of part one of the Indian web series on Prime Video in 2019. I will talk about rest of the web series in part two. Click here to read about rest of the web series in part two.
